Every color is created through a careful process. It starts with a small prototype (less than half an ounce) of 5-free nail polish base. I add various color pigments, glitters, and special effect pigments (such as holographic) until I achieve a color and formula I love. I carefully weigh and record every element of the prototype. After the prototype passes the testing phase, I scale the recipe to produce 12-18 bottles of polish at one time. To mix a batch of polish, I carefully weigh out all the components into a 16-32 ounce paint cup and mix them together. After the polish is created, they are hand poured into individual nail polish bottles. I then hand label each bottle with a Nail Hoot front label, and a top label with the color name. Polishes are then ready to go to their forever homes.

Each recipe is crafted as precisely as possible to help prevent product variations. Each batch is handmade, so it is possible that a slight variation could occur. Sometimes, the batch materials we order from a vendor will have variations between orders that slightly affect the outcome of the final product. We do check each new batch of polish against the initial batch to ensure they are as consistent as possible.

As the owner and creator at Nail Hoot, I have tested and worn each and every one of these lovely polishes, and I can tell you that I easily get 4-5 days without any wear. For best results with any polish brand, ensure nails are clean before painting, always wear a base coat and a top coat to help increase the longevity of your manicure, and clean up any polish that lands in the cuticle area.

We absorb part of the cost of shipping by offering you a rate lower than the actual cost to ship. Shipping saver rates cost $2.99 for packages weighing fewer than 16 ounces, and $3.99 for packages weighing 16+ ounces.

Please remember to always let your nail polish come to room temperature before attempting to remove the cap from the bottle. In extreme temperature situations, it is best to let the bottle sit 24 hours before you first open it. Please do not put your polishes in the refrigerator or oven/microwave to speed the heating or cooling process, instead let the bottle sit in the open and reach room temperature naturally.  Opening the polish before the temperature has settled could cause the bottle to break (or worse, explode!) and can also cause adverse changes to the polish formula.

All international shipments are sent in boxes. For this reason, the price might be higher than some other makers offer. While some ship in bubble mailers or envelopes and misuse the "letter/envelope" rate, we do not do this. We feel that boxes are the best way to protect your package as it makes it way to its destination, and we don't want the customer to have to pay balance due shipping charges upon arrival. International packages are always insured. We never profit from international shipping, instead we usually absorb a small amount of the shipping costs.
